Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The Queen's Medical Center is proud to be the home of Hawaii’s first, and only, OPEN 3.0 Tesla Magnet. This addition compliments our existing 3 Tesla scanner and our two (2)  1.5Tesla MRI systems which have been the mainstay of the MRI department.  With a total of four (4) MRIs, Queen’s Medical Center has the most MRIs in the state accommodating the widest range of scans and body types.

The OPEN 3 Tesla is Iideal for claustrophobic patients, larger patients, or patients that just want more room. The extra large open bore (70 cm) accommodates patients of different sizes (up to 550 lbs) and allows one foot of headroom inside the magnet.
